Contestant: Fahhd Husain

Fahhd Husain started his career as a journalist in 2007 at Geo English, a channel that belonged to the Jang Group, Pakistan’s largest media house. There, he was posted to the ticker desk and this helped him develop a better news sense as he would receive information in its crudest form and then polish or filter it to make it understandable for the viewer. He was then promoted to copy editor for the main news desk and apart from editing scripts, would often create his own packages for the main bulletin.

However, it was not until he joined the DawnNews Channel in 2009, that he grew as a journalist. Pakistan’s first English language channel allowed him to develop his skills as a reporter and experience in the field proved invaluable. During his period at the channel, he covered a number of beats including human rights, crime and the provincial high court. DawnNews also gave Fahhd the chance to work on the main news desk and he was posted as the senior copy editor.

At the moment, Fahhd is the desk-in-charge of the city pages for The News International, one of Pakistan’s largest English daily newspapers.
